We made some progress this week in our PHD redesign. In Vegas Prime Retrograde most of the time you solve things by hacking with your PHD.
We redesigned the way the PHD works both the back-end and visually. It now scans the area (It is a proximity hack deck, after all!) lets you cycle through targets with right bumper or tab, and still has our retro vibe to it.

Clara is the main character in Vegas Prime Retrograde. You play her, hacking her way through the sinister plot that ties VPR together.
Clara was the acting COMs officer on the team's final deep space tour at the Kuiper Array. Her stasis brainsync training includes communication and remote system infiltration. She suffers from extreme brain burn, a form of PTSD, and is seeking treatment in Vegas Prime.

We're doing the CTMonthInTheLife challenge for August, this year. It's usually for artisans and crafters, but that's kind of what indie game developers are! Today is workspace. So here's a window into our bizarre little world of game development!
We've been working on BrainIDLE Training SIMS today, and building the menu system out to include our Gathering SIM. Here's a progress shot!
During stasis, your training will include surface gathering of identified resources. The ship AI will oversee the mission from orbit, leaving you to freely explore the planet surface, while you gather resources.
Just sharing a progress screen cap of the underbelly of Vegas Prime. The tunnels are a bit more puzzle oriented, in that you have to figure out what to hack, where, and when, in order to get through.
But don't worry! We've connected everything with wiring, so you can trace it all back to the source. :)
150 NPCs on screen kinda just means 150 people that don't know what they're doing walking around the city.
We were having some performance issues with our NPCs in the city level of Vegas Prime Retrograde. We tried a bunch of things, but eventually ended up having to step away from the Unity Navmesh. It's pretty great and full featured, but we needed to really dumb down our NPCs.
We purpose built our own NPC ai in such a way that we can extend their behavior when we need, but until...
In the Vegas Prime Retrograde megaverse, deep space mining crews travel in stasis for years at a time. While they're in stasis, they train up on the various skills they'll need to perform their resource mining jobs. We want to collect some of the training sims into a playable game. Here's a prototype of our Training SIMS title screen.
